Growing a Greener Future
Landscape Management

Our management services utilize methods that work in cooperation with nature. We offer services that literally start from the ground up, as one of the most important contributors to plant and turf health is soil.

Many traditional lawn care practices neglect the benefit of healthy soil, creating landscapes that are dependent on processed fertilizer and applications of herbicides and pesticides. These practices destroy the soil’s micro-organism population and plant resiliency.

In contrast, we offer organic products and cultural practices that add vital organic matter to your soil and create a rich environment for the long-term health and vibrancy of plants and turf.

In order to best serve our clients’ individual needs we offer the Plant Health Management System that can be customized to include a combination of the following services:

Soil Amendment
A soil amendment refers to the process of adding organic material to the soil to improve its physical properties. The goal is to provide a better growing environment for plant roots. In this process, we also utilize organic water-saving products that are worked into the soil to help maintain moisture levels and make water available to plant roots as it is needed.

Fertilization
Applying fertilizer to lawns and landscapes nourishes the soil and encourages healthy growth. Organic options such as corn gluten fertilizers are available.

Aeration
Regular aeration helps increase the infiltration of water and nutrients to the soil, stimulates root growth and increases drought tolerance.

De-thatching
Thatch refers to the layer of dead material that lies on top of the soil. When thatch accumulates it can become a home to various types of insects and fungus, creating serious thinning and patching. To prevent thatch build up and maintain turf health we recommend a seasonal program of aeration, de-thatching and topdressing.

Topdressing and Overseeding
Topdressing existing turf with sand and organic matter provides a cover for overseeding and restores nutrients to the soil. This system is one of the most efficient ways to create a thick, lush, healthy lawn. New grass seed options are available for overseeding including varieties that are specific for sun or shade, as well as drought tolerant, low-maintenance grass. We will help you choose the variety that is just right for the growing conditions on your property.

Mulching
Adding mulch to landscape beds protects plants by retaining moisture in the soil, insulating the root system and stabilizing the soil system. Organic mulches also add nutrient to the soil and promote healthy growth.

Weed Management
Weeds are the toughest pest to control organically. Due to the recent ban on pesticide use, we can no longer offer chemical weed control options. Because there are no organic products currently on the market to kill existing weeds, we recommend some tolerance of weeds. We also recommend employing a seasonal program of aeration, de-thatching and topdressing as a way to keep properties healthy and thereby, minimize weed and pest problems.

Tree and Shrub Care
This program includes monitoring existing conditions, as well as options for deep-root fertilizing and soil enhancements, and treatment of pest or disease issues through natural methods.

Landscape Restoration
This service can range from simply cleaning out over-crowded planting beds and replacing tired, diseased plants or shrubs to an entire face lift of the garden area to include native wildflowers and drought-tolerant plants and grasses. Our goal is to create a customized program for your property that employs a variety of sustainable methods to restore the natural landscape to a level of optimal health.
